YAY! Won AngelHack. SFO! Here I come.

From Idea to a prototype in 24 hours!

It was really amazing experience coding all night, eating, collaborating. There were around a total of 30 teams to pitch in front of the judges. Couple of them was really good. We were given 3 minutes to pitch in front of judges and 1 minute Q&A.

We were the first team to pitch. We called our team Typeset. What we do is pretty much simple. We found out that people are taking a lot of time to format/typeset their content to their own specified format. We felt that it’s not the job of the content creator to format/typeset the whole content; all he needs to worry about is the content itself. So we created a product where at the click of a button, typeset the contents. Layout, margins, typography, etc., are automatically determined by the tool based on the desired format of the output document. This makes the process of typesetting simple, fun and intuitive.

The winner gets a 12 week’s mentorship, workspace and most importantly a chance to pitch in front of investors on Global Demo Day at Silicon Valley. =D

Soumya Deb talked about FirefoxOs, ways to develop apps etc..

The crowd was really amazing. They were totally involved into the talk and asked a lot of questions. We conducted a small quiz and gave away the goodies to one who answered.

Overall, It was amazing crowd who hacked over for 24 hours and made amazing apps. Many of them built FirefoxOS apps.

Note: After Mozilla talk, I participated in Angel Hack and developed a product over 24 hours time and finally Won AngelHack.

FirefoxOsAppDays Bangalore. MSRIT.(october 2013)

Event: FirefoxOsAppDays at M.S.Ramaiah Institute of Technology.

When: 9-oct-2013

Agenda:

1. Introductory presentation on Firefox OS, Marketplace.

2. Technical overview, Technical presentations on: Firefox OS Simulator, Developer Tools, Web APIs, Web Apps templates.

Jaipradesh had taken over these presentations where he had done an awesome job with icebreaking sessions and creating awareness and educating the participants about FirefoxOs.
I spoke about WebFWD and validated their ideas for the FirefoxOs market place.

It was more like a hackathon where students of MSRIT and other colleges brainstormed on ideas and at the end of the event developed awesome apps, some of them were marketplace ready.

Many showed up interest and started questioning about the ways of getting involved among the community. A good healthy Club was formed in the University.

Something that made us proud is how the audience was actually interested in knowing about how to contribute, Devtools, Firefox OS demo etc.

Students from other colleges, who attended the event, were excited to organize MozClub in their own institutes & host events. They connected with us and we talked with them after the event.
Honestly, I really haven’t seen so many enthusiastic students anywhere else – they’re so full of positive energy, and willing to do something good!

AngelHack(Nov 9th and 10th)(Mozilla Collaboration).

A two day hackathon at Microsoft is as good a place as any to find an audience for Mozilla’s community and WebFWD awareness camp. So, we decided to take a trip to the giant offices of Microsoft whose pictures we were not allowed to take. (security concerns… Whaaaat?)

AngelHack is  organized all over the world with the sole objective of connecting Technopreneurs with investors. We represented Mozilla in this event to help the participants understand how they could contribute to Mozilla and the next-big-thing in mobile OS platform – The Firefox OS.

I did few extensive one-on-ones with potential technopreneurs, explaining them how to get involved and touched upon the importance of the open source movement.

We also decided to have some fun along with the awareness process. Quickfire quiz round was conducted and cool Mozilla swag were distributed.

Fallowing this, on a professional note I had a talk with Angel hack community manager Kamrin Klauschie regarding collaboration with Mozilla in their upcmoning events.

Sidenote: The food  there is pretty awesome and so are the people.

I would like to thank my fellow mozillians: Sujith, Vineel, Srikar,Saikiran ananthula and everyone present representing Mozilla.
